System Design We have gained extensive experience of designing complex computer systems while working on the design of a number of mission critical applications for our retail customers. We work closely with our customers at all stages of the design process to ensure that they get the systems that they need. The design process used will be agreed with the customer at the start of the project, the choice of design tools and methodologies being matched to the size and complexity of the project. Software Development Retail Systems Working for Tesco and Tesco.com for the past 6 years has provided invaluable experience in the design, development and deployment of mission critical retail computer systems. During this time we have worked on the development of a number of systems including the Tesco Back Office which is installed in all 700+ UK, ROI and French stores. We have experience in the following areas:
"using an electronic network to simplify and speed up all stages of the business process, from design and making to buying, selling and delivery, e-commerce is the exchange of information across electronic networks, at any stage in the supply chain, whether within an organisation, between businesses, between businesses and consumers, or between the public and private sectors, whether paid or unpaid". Department of Trade and Industry. Put more simply, e-commerce is any method of doing business electronically. Applications of e-commerce include retail sales via the Internet and business transactions carried out using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) or more modern ebXML based systems. There are four types of e-commerce:
We can supply B2C systems such as online stores and booking systems tailored to your companies needs. We will work with you to select the most appropriate hosting, payment and security solutions. As well as our SupplyLinks B2B order and stock management system we can provide bespoke B2B applications tailored to your companies needs. Content management systems allow companies and organisations to quickly and easily develop and deploy content to a web site without requiring knowledge of the structure of the site or underlying technologies such as HTML. We can assist you in selecting or developing the most appropriate content management system for your business, whether it be a simple database driven web site or a fully fledged XML based system providing facilities such as workflow, multilevel security and version control. |

JRAH Computing use Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET for the development of applications to be deployed on Microsoft platforms. Our B2B supply chain product SupplyLinks is developed using .NET technologies. Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET and the .NET Framework enable us to quickly and easily create leading edge XML Web services and applications. C# is our language of choice for developing ASP.NET applications and Web Services, but will use VB.NET or VC++ if specifically requested to do so. Where your application requires a database we will use Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or Microsoft Access 2002. The choice will be based on the type of application, number of users, space and performance requirements. www.partsplazaltd.co.uk is an example of an ecommerce site developed by JRAH using ASP.Net. The customer website is supported by a web enabled back office system developed using ASP.Net C# and providing integrated stock control and catalogue management functionality. |

JRAH have extensive experience of developing computer systems for various Unix derivatives including Solaris, Aix, OSF, SCO and Linux. The combination of the Linux open source operating system and Apache web server provide a highly cost effective and reliable platform for hosting web sites and applications. We currently develop web enabled applications for Linux platforms using PHP and MySQL. An example of one our PHP / MySQL site can be found at www.foothills.co.uk. We also have widespread experience of developing client server applications using C/C++, shell scripts and Sybase. JRAH Computing is not a Web Hosting company. We will purchase web hosting packages on behalf of our customers and act as an intermediary where required. There are a large number of companies acting as resellers of web hosting services, often at unsustainably low prices. We use hosting packages provided by companies who we believe are on a sound financial footing and who provide effective and reliable support. We currently use Netcetera for our Windows 2000 hosting packages. They provide excellent support and their servers support the .NET framework. Prices start at £60 + VAT per year for a basic entry level package. They offer a range of dedicated server packages with prices starting at around £2000 + VAT per year. We
currently use Iarna as our supplier of
Linux hosting packages. Prices start at around £90 + VAT per year
for an entry level package. They
offer a range of dedicated server packages with prices starting at around
£3000 + VAT per year. Contracts for the support of JRAH Computing systems can be arranged. Costs will vary depending upon the application and level of cover required. We can arrange for user training on any system deployed by JRAH Computing. Training is normally charged at a daily rate of £300 + VAT. |
